This is an optional step.  Whip stitch collar in place.  Come up at A, Down at B and Slide the Needle to C making sure to go through the White Felt.

The Collar is a 2 step stitch; The Whipped Running Stitch.  Stitch the Running Stitch around the collar.

Take the Needle to the wrong side.  Now “Whip” the Running Stitches.  I put the Needle through the Running Stitch, Eye of Needle first.   Run the Eye from the top of the stitch to the bottom of the stitch.  Make sure to always insert the Needle from the top.

Take the Needle to the wrong side and tie off the floss.  Next; stitch Running Stitches down the center of the Collar.

Then Whip the Running Stitches.  Eye of Needle inserted on the right side of the Running Stitch to the left side.  Make sure to continue the Whip Stitch – Right side to left side.  Take the Needle to the wrong side and tie off the floss.

There are 2 different methods of creating the next group of stitches (Running Stitch, Upside down V, French Knot at the top).  We’ll start with the first method.  Stitch a long Running Stitch, then come up at A, Down at B, up at C and down at B to create an upside down V.

Then the French Knot.  Come up at A, Wrap Needle once.

Tighten the tension of the floss before inserting the Needle to the right side of A.  If the floss is tightened too much the Needle might not go through.  It takes a little time to get it consistent if you are new to French Knots.

Now is the Second Approach.  Stitch evenly spaced long Running stitch.  Then stitch the upside down V’s.  French Knots next.  Some people prefer to set the Long Running Stitches to get the spacing right.

Finish the Neckline.  Start the Bullion Stitch.  Up at A, Slide the Needle to B.

Wind the floss around the Needle, 15 winds.

Hold the 15 Winds with you index finger and thumb, gently pull the needle through.  I use a Needle Nose Plier to pull the Needle through.  Insert the Needle back at A.

Continue stitching the Bullion Stitches around the lower collar.

Optional; set the Bullion Stitches.  Sometimes they can be a bit unruly and can twist.  I tack each Bullion Stitch down using 1 Strand of 6 Strand Floss – Red.  Come up at A (center of Bullion Stitch) and then down at B.  Continue until all the Bullion Stitches are tacked down.

French Knot Time!  Come up at A, wrap the Needle once and down at B.

A finished French Knot completed!  Continue stitching French Knots around the lower edge of Collar.
