The next steps are optional. You will need 1 yard of small trim. Fast Grab Tacky Glue is ideal.
Cut the trim at least 1/2″ longer than needed. Draw a line of glue in the ditch. A toothpick or a pin works well to apply the glue. 
Place the trim in the glue. Trim ends of the trim so that the trim is approximately 1/8″ longer on each end. Tuck the ends into the grooves. Repeat for the other side.
Cut 4 strips of trim 2 1/2″ long. Place a line of glue in the ditch. Set the trim in the glue. Trim ends about 1/8″ from edge and tuck the ends into the grooves.
Continue with the 2 remaining trims.
Finish all sides. Note there is one trim located to the right of the right swirl on the 3rd ornament.
